Linguan
I was recently referred to an Mac OS X app aimed at iOS developers named Linguan. iOS developers interested in localizing, or I guess internationalization of, their apps might find this interesting. The error checking alone might make it worth the $10.So far the value in Linguan seems to be:
- I don’t have to run gentools command line. Though they don’t really tell you this, and if you’re Terminal savvy you won’t care.
- If you define a different language, it will display warnings if keys are missing or undefined.
- Some basic xib string extraction.
As far as I can tell, that’s about it. You can’t define, or edit the keys found in the classes. Which would be nice, but I guess I understand them not wanting to be liable for tracking key location or mucking with your classes themselves. There may be more to it that I’ve not discovered yet. In any case, I’m OK with a tool that focused on one thing as long as it does it well.
